What would i have written differently?
At any given moment we cannot tell,
How our efforts are going to jell.
At the cross-roads, choices are few,
Our perceptions too, fall askew.
Our perceptions too, fall askew.
Even of the next moment we can't be sure,
The road ahead,is so obscure.
With a lot of care i choose my course,
Falling shadows leave, no recourse!
If i had to write my own destiny,
With a lot of care i choose my course,
Falling shadows leave, no recourse!
If i had to write my own destiny,
What could i have written differently?
The chosen path leads to a logical end,
Can't go back to alter or mend.
What tempts today could doom tomorrow,
A vagrant spirit, can lead to sorrow.
He only knows the ultimate design,
Has some purpose,up His mind.
You or I,could never beat that,
At this game,He is old hat!
If i had to write my own destiny,
I wouldn't have written it differently!
Can't go back to alter or mend.
What tempts today could doom tomorrow,
A vagrant spirit, can lead to sorrow.
He only knows the ultimate design,
Has some purpose,up His mind.
You or I,could never beat that,
At this game,He is old hat!
If i had to write my own destiny,
I wouldn't have written it differently!

I believe Karma decides our destiny... so in a way, we CAN write our own destiny.
ReplyDeleteBe good to others, there will be lesser reasons to complain.
An intriguing post, though.
Have a good day! :)
Vaishali you are welcome to jeeteraho.Yes i too believe that good karma will fetch good results but quite often uncontrollable, unforeseen factors mash up our efforts.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your frank opinion.
Loved the last line Indu! Splendid! I agree, sometimes we brood about the way life is going and let moments slip by which we could have spent in little pleasures!
ReplyDeleteYes, what is the use of fighting against the inevitable ?It is better to enjoy what is THERE !
DeleteProfound! Though each of us would like things to be smooth and life to be rosy, it is indeed in our hands to do our best and not grieve over something that was never in our control to begin with.
ReplyDeleteJust what i wanted to say.Thank you Rachna!
ReplyDeleteTrue...whatever we have is the best...loved this one...true magic of words
ReplyDeleteYou are right Ranjana--if we sat down to decide with whom we would like to exchange our fate-i doubt if we could settle on anyone.
DeleteBeautifully written Indu! :)
ReplyDeleteI believe some part of destiny lies in our hands too! We should make full use of it...
Yes Sri Valli some part is definitely in our hands.
DeleteYou are as good at poetry as at prose. But it is the philosophy behind these words that is intriguing. The leave me with lot to ponder over.
ReplyDeleteMeenakshi coming from a writer of your caliber, this is worth a million words-thank you.
DeleteOur actions decided our fruits . Although it may not seem to happen too fast in this era , But time brings out the results whether in this birth or the next one . So do good karmas.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, in this birth we do see non-deserving people leading cushy lives, that is why we lose faith & become cynical.
DeleteThe erudite say this is the result of their past deeds.
Learning lessons, taking the goods, leaving out the bads and moving on is indeed one of the best ways to live a life - Makes us the person that we are. Beautiful thought provoking lines, Induji.
ReplyDeleteWell said Arti-that's the way.
DeleteThanks for your support!
Profound and enormous!
ReplyDeleteYou have 'written it differently' Indu:)
What a nice comment Amit jee, thanks a lot!
DeleteVery well written. Liked the lines
ReplyDelete"What tempts today could doom tomorrow,
A vagrant spirit, can lead to sorrow."
one couldn't have written it differently.
jahid welcome to jeeterago. Thanks for visiting & appreciating so very generously!!!
DeleteWell composed poem Indu. It is said in a famous quote: “Destiny is not a matter of chance; it is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.”
ReplyDeleteWilliam Jennings Bryan
Fayaz welcome to jeeteraho!Your quote is very pertinent here, thanks !!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poem INDU.. great thought behind it.
ReplyDeleteIf i had to write my own destiny,
I wouldn't have written it differently!
its a very interesting thought, one could write a book explaining it. You have done it beautifully with minimum words.
Falling shadows leave, no recourse!
loved this line esp.
keep writing dear. loved this one.
That's awesome praise Deepak-very heartening-esp.from such a lucid poet.Thanks a ton!!!!!!!!!!!
Deletewell expressed! not questioning HIS design and accepting that HE has some plans for us....yep..that's the way to be....trust ur master....
ReplyDeleteloved it!
Hi little princess!welcome here.I am glad you liked the first post you read here. Thanks a lot !
DeleteThis is my firt visit. Really beautiful and amazing lines. I'm a believer of destiny and I beleive God has a bigger plan for us which we may not understand. Ultimately it's God'plan.
ReplyDeleteHi diana,
DeleteA very warm welcome at jeeteraho. Thanks a lot for your heart-felt response.Yes,ultimately it is His design as you have neatly put it.
Thank God I can't write my own destiny! Imagine a life sans surprises?
ReplyDeleteIt is always a delight to read your response to any post----always original & charming!!
DeleteHey Indu! This time I will only refer you to my series of articles "Of Karma and Predestination" :)
ReplyDeleteOK,here i go!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, we can't change what has been done and I wonder is it pre-determined and we are merely playing our part. Beautiful poem.
ReplyDeleteSaru i think our actions & choices are in our own hands.
DeleteVery beautiful poem, Indu.
ReplyDeleteMy POV is---our destiny must be already written because the alternative is that we write our own destiny and surely that cannot be true.. otherwise we would all have wonderful lives free of pain and misery!
I am glad you liked it Panchali. Thanks for sharing your POV.
DeleteWhat you say makes sense & it was at the back of my mind while i was writing this poem.
But i think destiny only decides where we start from. After that a lot depends upon our own thoughts & actions;though destiny-as you say-could interfere here again & decide the outcome of our actions.
Hi Indu ,
ReplyDeleteYou have been nominated for Liebster award . Please check my post http://www.aboutomkaar.com/2013/02/liebster-blog-award-my-first-blog-award.html for details .
Congratulations.
Vishal thanks a lot,i will get back to you.
DeleteWouldn't the world be a totally different place if we all could write our own destiny, that too the way we want? :) Your verses are beyond my understanding. Couldn't comment earlier as I needed to read it again and again :)
ReplyDeleteYes Latha the world would be totally different then ,but what happens if my interests clash with yours?Dhamaka!!!!!!!!!!!!
Deletehahaha
DeleteReally a very beautiful poem......
ReplyDeletehttp://debnature.blogspot.in
Debopam your comment pleases me no end, thanks!!
DeleteYou have expressed your emotions beautifully..
ReplyDeleteWhat I can think on this point is - We are the co-authors of our destiny..we have to keep the spark alive and bring positive changes to enrich our present.. Give your best and leave the rest..
* Nothing else could my moronic mind think of *
Haha, moronic mind!!!!That's not true at all.But the rest of the comment IS.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet compliment-keep them coming!

Love n hugs!
What a beautiful post, Indu. When you lose someone suddenly you realise one thing. The only thing within our hands is to grasp each day and make it as happy and worth our while as possible.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful praise KayEm,thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, what you say is the best way to be.
Touching words Induji.
ReplyDeleteAfter a long time Anupam.
